The operational start of this new team is scheduled for the end of November. This measure follows the new Executive's strategy to strengthen civil protection and operational response capabilities, which has already included increased financial support for the two fire brigades and reinforcement of human resources for the Municipal Civil Protection Office.
The request from the Torrão Mixed Firefighters to create this second EIP was accepted by the Secretary of State for Civil Protection. The next step will be the signing of a protocol between the brigade, the Municipality, and the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection, who will share the operational costs of the EIP. The protocol will be valid for three years, automatically renewable for equal periods, unless terminated by either party.
This new team represents a significant reinforcement of the operational capacity of the Torrão Mixed Firefighters Corps, consolidating available professional resources and improving response conditions to emergency and civil protection calls.
