The initiative “Mente Ativa, Vida Ativa” (Active Mind, Active Life), part of the #BeActive campaign and the European Week of Sport, took place yesterday at the Municipal Auditorium of Alcácer do Sal. The program included several moments of debate and reflection on the importance of physical activity and mental well-being.
The session featured the participation of the president and vice-president of the Municipal Council, Clarisse Campos and António Grilo, respectively. Topics discussed included findings from studies on smartphone use in schools and the “Scrool on” movement, which encourages young people to disconnect from screens and engage in more active pursuits. Habits, motivations, and barriers to physical activity among young people were also debated.
A notable moment was the segment “Gente que Resiste” (People who Resist), featuring vice-president António Grilo and a video contribution from professional paracyclist Miguel Pacheco. The conversation covered sports, overcoming challenges, and resilience, also touching upon the difficult times the community faced at the beginning of the year and how they were overcome.
