The health education session, titled “Look after yourself, look after your skin!”, focused on the prevention and early detection of skin cancer. The event took place at Ribacop, in Tremês, on October 7th.
This initiative is part of the project “Listen, Speak, Care: Health Literacy Throughout Life”. It featured participation from specialists such as Joana Parente, dermatologist at the Hospital Distrital de Santarém, Carla Patrícia Marques, family doctor at USF Alviela, Sónia Mendes, family nurse, and Sara Carvalhal, administrative technician from the same health unit.
The session's main objective was to alert the public to the dangers of sun exposure, encourage the adoption of protective measures, and promote regular skin monitoring, reinforcing the importance of health literacy within the community.
