The Municipality of Ourém participated on November 5th in the 14th edition of the national exercise "A Terra Treme", promoted by the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).

The initiative, held at three locations in the municipality, involved hundreds of people, including participants and civil protection and rescue personnel. At the Municipal headquarters, the exercise led to the evacuation of 159 people and the rescue of one. At CRIF in Fátima, 163 people were evacuated and one rescue was performed. At ACITI in Caxarias, 44 people were evacuated with two additional rescues.
The exercise at the municipal headquarters was observed by the vice-president of the Ourém Municipal Council, Rui Vital, while councilor Humberto Antunes oversaw actions at CRIF and ACITI. Firefighters, PSP, GNR, and Civil Protection participated, aiming to test procedures and enhance coordination among involved entities.
Part of the National Strategy for Preventive Civil Protection, "A Terra Treme" aims to raise awareness about seismic risk and promote essential self-protection behaviors: Drop, Cover, and Hold On. This year's edition coincided with World Tsunami Awareness Day and paid special attention to institutions supporting children and adults with disabilities.
Briefings were held at all three locations afterwards to review the exercises, identify areas for improvement, and exchange insights, crucial for refining coordination and preparedness for real emergencies.
