The Ourém–Torres Novas Dinosaur Footprints Natural Monument marks its 30th anniversary of classification on October 22nd, a milestone underscoring the importance of conserving and disseminating this geological heritage.

The commemorative session will take place at the Natural Monument Interpretation Centre, between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, bringing together entities and specialists in nature conservation and geoconservation. Researchers from LNEG, Daniel de Oliveira and Jorge Carvalho, will be present.
The program will commemorate the 30 years since classification, discuss the importance of the first Natural Monument within the National Network of Protected Areas, and showcase valorization initiatives. This site, classified three decades ago, holds significant scientific, educational, and cultural value, fostering the connection between geosciences and society.
The commemoration also launches a series of initiatives to enhance public engagement with this heritage. A notable protocol, established in 2024 between the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF), ADSAICA, and ASSIMAGRA, focuses on geoconservation and the valorization of the Natural Monument.
