The Polytechnic University of Santarém is carrying out renovation and energy efficiency works at the São Pedro Residence, an investment aimed at significantly reducing energy and water consumption.

The renovation and energy efficiency works at the São Pedro Residence of the Polytechnic University of Santarém are currently underway. This intervention is part of the operations promoted by the University to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of its infrastructure, aligning with the strategic objectives defined in the ECO.AP 2030 Efficiency Plan and national climate and energy transition goals.
The ongoing works will achieve an annual reduction in primary energy consumption of 164,827 kWhEP, corresponding to a 42% annual decrease. This operation demonstrates its strategic relevance for achieving the objectives of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) Regulation, contributing to sustainable growth and the strategic autonomy of the European Union.
Through this operation, the University directly contributes to national objectives of reducing primary energy consumption by 40%, ensuring 10% of energy consumption is met by renewable self-consumption solutions, reducing water consumption by 20% and materials, and achieving a 5% energy and water renovation rate for buildings under ECO.AP.
In parallel, interventions in the buildings of the Escola Superior Agrária de Santarém and the Escola Superior Desporto de Rio Maior are also in the final stages.
