The group comprises doctors, nurses, nutritionists, and a pharmacist, bringing together professionals from various fields for an integrated approach to individuals requiring nutritional support.
GNEP's mission is the continuous improvement of enteral and parenteral nutrition practices, implementing evidence-based procedures, developing clinical guidelines, organizing training sessions, and fostering collaboration among professionals and care levels.
The group's first project is the creation of the Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition Clinic, which will support patients at nutritional risk or malnourished, benefiting from outpatient enteral nutrition co-payment, as per Portaria n.º 82/2025/1 of March 4th.
This clinic aims to ensure specialized follow-up, guaranteeing the continuity of nutritional care after hospital discharge and in outpatient settings, providing support in all aspects of nutritional therapy, from clinical assessment and monitoring to patient and caregiver education.
Concurrently, the group intends to strengthen coordination between different care levels, promoting a safer and more effective transition of care between hospitals, primary healthcare, the National Network for Integrated Continuous Care, and home care.
With the establishment of GNEP, ULS Lezíria reinforces its commitment to providing differentiated care, promoting a multidisciplinary approach for better clinical outcomes, enhanced safety, and improved quality of life.
