The 11 municipalities of the Lezíria do Tejo region have unanimously approved a strategic proposal to create a large Business Location Area, with a planned site in Santarém.

This joint decision aims to strengthen the territory's ambition to attract investment, create jobs, and promote economic development across the entire region. The proposal includes the establishment of PLEIS – Santarém Business and Industrial Logistics Platform, spanning 1,521 hectares with phased development.
Strategically located in the center of Portugal, near the A1 motorway, and with potential rail links, this platform aims to position Lezíria do Tejo as a competitive territory for major national and international investments. The strategy also includes a connection to the Campus Tejo – Science & Technology and the development of a network of business parks across various municipalities.
The proposal will now be presented to the CCDR of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo as part of the selection process for locations to be submitted to the Government, which will make the final decision.
