The Municipality of Valongo was honored in two key areas during the IV Social City Congress, held in Lagoa. The awards include the Quality Recognition for Senior Physical Exercise Programs, given to the program “ASA – Acreditamos em Seniores Ativos” (We Believe in Active Seniors), and the Quality Recognition for Holiday Camps, awarded to the program “Tok'A Mexer”.
The “ASA” program aims to recognize municipal initiatives for the senior population, evaluated on criteria such as human resource qualification, exercise prescription, safety, and activity monitoring. Meanwhile, the “Tok'A Mexer” program, focused on dynamically occupying the leisure time of children and young people during school breaks, was recognized for its organization, supervision, and promotion of skills like autonomy, creativity, and communication.
These distinctions underscore the Municipality of Valongo's commitment to promoting physical activity among seniors, combating isolation, and fostering active aging. Concurrently, the municipality demonstrates its dedication to providing children and young people with a diverse range of dynamic activities that support their holistic development and assist families in balancing professional and family life.
