The municipality of Penafiel is once again marking one of its most emblematic festivities, São Martinho, which takes place between November 7th and 20th. The program combines tradition, gastronomy, commerce, and popular gathering, deeply linked to the municipality's identity.
November 11th, the municipal holiday, will be dedicated to the celebrations in honor of São Martinho. The religious program begins at 10:00 AM at the Igreja da Misericórdia de Penafiel with Solemn Eucharist, followed at 11:00 AM by the traditional Procession of São Martinho.
In the afternoon, at 4:00 PM, Praça de São Martinho hosts the Traditional Magusto, where roasted chestnuts will be served. Gastronomy remains central with the Gastronomic Tent and Wine Tastings in the same square.
The São Martinho Fair runs through the city streets, with a diverse program that values local products. The Agrival Pavilion hosts the Cattle Fair on November 10th and the Horse Fair on the 11th, reinforcing the link to the rural world.
Praça de São Martinho features Local and Traditional Crafts, while at Largo Conde Torres Novas (Campo da Feira), carousels and amusements complete the offerings for families and young people.
São Martinho de Penafiel, with its strong connection to local history and culture, brings together religious dimension, commercial tradition, regional flavors, and popular gathering, in a festivity that spans generations.
