The celebration marks nearly four decades since the Museum opened its doors in this emblematic space. Acquired in 1987 from the São Pedro da Cova Coal Mining Company, the building was transformed into a museum in 1989, becoming a pillar in the preservation of the locality's rich mining memory.
Over these 37 years, the former Casa da Malta has been the repository of countless stories, objects, documents, and testimonies from various generations, keeping alive the intrinsic link between mining heritage and the community of São Pedro da Cova.
The institution reaffirms its commitment to continue safeguarding, valuing, disseminating, and promoting the geological and mining heritage of the region, ensuring this cultural legacy endures for the future.
