The Museum Aurélia and Sofia de Souza, formerly Casa Marta Ortigão Sampaio, marked its renaming in June 2026 with the simultaneous inauguration of the exhibitions «Diálogo Duplo» and «Seabranano e Seabrina», both dedicated to the legacy of Marta Ortigão Sampaio.

The new exhibitions, aimed at honoring Marta Ortigão Sampaio's vision, opened in June 2026. The exhibition «Diálogo Duplo», curated and designed by Rita Roque, proposes an artistic intervention that spans the entire building, establishing a relationship between the works of Aurélia and Sofia de Souza and the present.
This exhibition seeks to transform the past into an active territory for new readings, through the encounter of works, gestures, and perspectives. It features new works by Sofia Leitão and Luísa Mota, and a performative activation by Ana Rocha. Throughout the exhibition period, a publication designed by Luísa Martelo will be released, including contributions from Catarina Vasconcelos, Isabel Carvalho, Eduarda Neves, Laura Castro, Lúcia Almeida Matos, Mafalda Gomes Teixeira, Marlene Rocha, Rosa Maria Martelo, and Susana Lourenço Marques.
The initiative challenges the artists to explore the museum's collection dedicated to the two painters, promoting different modes of contemplation and interpretation. The exhibition aims to reveal a poetics of gesture, where hope and welcome intersect with the desire to transmit knowledge, inviting a sense of adventure and a deep awareness of the time of creation and observation.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 AM to 5:30 PM, closed on Mondays and public holidays. It is located at Rua de Nossa Senhora de Fátima, 299, in Porto. Access is available by bus (lines 203, 302, 508) or metro (Carolina Michaëlis station).
