The former Basic School of Baguim do Monte n.º 1 was inaugurated this Saturday as a new Golden Age Space, dedicated to the community, learning, and participation of the senior population.

The new facility, located on Avenida da Igreja, is the result of the renovation of the school building and aims to promote active and healthy aging, combat social isolation, and improve the quality of life for seniors. The intervention represented an investment of over 1 million euros.
The space, which is part of the Golden Age Spaces Network, has been designed to host recreational, cultural, and recreational activities, encouraging lifelong learning and personal development. It can be attended by users registered in the Golden Age Program and residents of the municipality aged 50 years or older.
With this opening, the network now comprises eight facilities distributed throughout the municipality of Gondomar, expanding proximity social services. The Golden Age Program has over 17,000 registered participants.
The creation of this space in Baguim do Monte is part of the operation “Espaços Saber+ – Former Basic School of Baguim do Monte n.º 1”, developed within the framework of Integrated Operations in Disadvantaged Communities of the Metropolitan Area of Porto and financed by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
