The Frutificar project has launched new educational activities focused on water and sustainability, reaching 730 public preschool children in Amarante until November 25.

Promoting healthy habits and fostering environmental awareness from an early age are the objectives of the new educational actions of the Frutificar project, which began on October 13 and run until November 25, involving a total of 730 children from public preschool education.
This year, water takes center stage in the activities, as a natural resource indispensable for life, human health, ecosystem preservation, and food production. In a context marked by climate change, periods of drought, and increasing consumption needs, the project aims to encourage responsible behaviors and conscious use of this essential resource from childhood.
In the first session, children are invited to embark on a discovery mission with «Gotinha de Água» (Little Water Drop), the new character joining the Frutificar team to guide them in their learning. Through dynamic and interactive activities, participants explore the presence and importance of water in their daily lives, understanding its role in life on Earth, soil quality, plant growth, and food production.
The relationship between water and healthy eating is also a fundamental axis of the initiative, with a special focus on fruit and other water-rich foods. Children are invited to taste apples fresh, as juice, and dehydrated, to understand the presence of water in food and the importance of chewing for speech development.
The activities also address the importance of hydration for the proper functioning of the human body and the different uses of water at home, promoting reflection on small gestures that can help prevent waste.
At the end of the first session, each child receives a reusable water bottle from the Frutificar Mission, reinforcing the message that individual choices, even the simplest ones, can make a difference in protecting natural resources.
Through this initiative, the Municipality reinforces its commitment to education for health and sustainability, promoting learning from the earliest years of life and encouraging children to become agents of change within their families and the community.
Caring for water is caring for life. Through the Frutificar project, environmental education is combined with the promotion of healthy habits, contributing to the formation of more conscious, responsible citizens attentive to the preservation of the planet.
