The Mayor of Nisa Municipality, Dr. José Dinis Serra, accompanied by Councilman Dr. José Leandro Semedo, received on Friday, September 25, Mr. José Duarte Varandas. A native of Amieira do Tejo and a resident of France, Varandas paid his respects representing the French municipality of Privas.
The meeting, which also included the President of the Union of Freguesias of Arez and Amieira do Tejo, served as a platform for sharing experiences and dialogue. Topics discussed included the presence and lives of Nisa communities in France, as well as the bonds that keep the people of Nisa united with their compatriots spread across the world.
This reception highlights the importance the Municipality of Nisa places on proximity to its emigrant community. The aim is also to preserve the connections with those who, despite being far away, maintain a strong link to their homeland.
