A national Kobudo training camp, a Japanese martial art associated with karate, took place in Monforte and Elvas on October 3rd and 4th, marking the 25th anniversary of the Porto Karate Association.

The event brought together 60 practitioners of various grades from different parts of the country, organized by the Kobudo section of the Motoclube Alentejano de Elvas (MCA), affiliated with the Porto Karate Association. The program included advanced technical sessions led by guest masters, focusing on tradition, technique, and the development of the martial spirit, as well as moments for sharing experiences.
The camp began in Monforte, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, within the museum space “Monforte Sacro – 18th Century Tile Panels on the Life and Miracles of Saint Isabel of Portugal”. Here, diplomas and grading belts were awarded to 6 practitioners from “Karaté Contact Monforte” and 5 from MCA. Technical sessions were later held at the Municipal Multipurpose Hall.
Paulo Ramalhete, head of karate at MCA, expressed satisfaction with the event's excellent results and highlighted its historical importance for the association. "Celebrating 25 years of history in a setting with the heritage richness of Monforte and Elvas was a privilege. We managed to bring together different generations of practitioners around Kobudo, honoring our past and projecting the future of our art," he stated.
Ramalhete thanked the indispensable support provided by the Municipality of Monforte, which provided facilities free of charge, handled publicity through its information channels, and offered event-themed t-shirts.
