The reconstruction of the Atalaia cemetery wall in Gavião, demolished in February of this year, will begin soon following a meeting between the Municipal Council and the Union of Parishes of Gavião and Atalaia. The project will cost 40 thousand euros.

The Mayor of Gavião, António Severino, and the councilor for parishes, Fernando Delgado, met in Atalaia with the president of the Union of Parishes of Gavião and Atalaia, Germano Porfírio, to discuss the wall's recovery work. The wall was demolished in February of this year due to a storm.
A previous solution, implemented in October 2024, which aimed to withstand adverse weather, did not survive this year's events, unlike the old wall. The necessary procedures for awarding the contract have recently been completed, and the contractor's availability is now awaited for the commencement of work.

"These works always require procedures that are time-consuming, and it has only now been possible to award the recovery of the demolished wall of the Atalaia cemetery."
