The District Command of Faro of the Public Security Police (PSP) celebrated its 139th anniversary in Tavira, with a solemn session at the Municipal Theatre of Tavira, where the “Tavira + Segura” protocol was formalized.

The ceremony featured police honors, institutional speeches, the awarding of medals, and the presentation of commendations. The new “Tavira + Segura” protocol, established between the Municipality of Tavira and the PSP, aims to strengthen institutional cooperation in areas such as commerce, services, and public space usage, through joint enforcement and awareness actions.
This partnership seeks to contribute to greater safety and organization of public spaces, promoting coordinated action between the two entities. The celebrations also included a demonstration by the Canine Operations Group of the Special Police Unit in Praça da República, allowing the public to see the PSP's resources and equipment.
The commemorative program, which began on October 29th, culminates on November 13th at 9:00 PM with a concert by the PSP Symphonic Band, conducted by Maestro Commissioner Pedro Ferreira, at the Municipal Theatre of Tavira. Admission is free, with tickets available from November 11th.
The choice of Tavira to host these celebrations evokes the historical connection of the PSP to the city, with records of a police station dating back to 1949.
