Over 800,000 euros are being invested in the Urban Water Cycle, while projects and applications foresee an additional approximately 2.5 million euros. The municipality has already allocated over 400,000 euros to the rehabilitation of local water reservoirs.
One of the planned innovations is the replacement of water meters with telemetry-enabled models, starting next year. This change aims to optimize readings, reduce the need for site visits, and improve information on user consumption, thereby enhancing water quality and distribution system efficiency.
Technological modernization and system automation are crucial for the sustainability and efficiency of the water supply, enabling more effective management and a responsive approach to the population's needs.
As the managing entity, the Municipality of Avis adheres to the regulations of the Water and Waste Services Regulatory Authority (ERSAR), which mandate economic and financial sustainability, transparent billing, and collection mechanisms, including coercive measures, to ensure the continuity and quality of services.
In this context, changes in the billing and collection system aim to comply with legal standards and improve service efficiency. Starting this December, the collection of debts for water, sanitation, and waste will be handled by the Tax and Customs Authority (AT) through a cooperation protocol.
Invoices unpaid for three months will be sent for fiscal execution, incurring additional legal charges. The municipality urges timely payment to avoid these extra costs, emphasizing that voluntary payment at municipal services prevents this process.
