Newly graduated doctors visiting the municipality of Avis, in Alto Alentejo, in an initiative to attract healthcare professionals to the region.

The municipality of Avis will host, on October 10 and 11, a group of newly graduated and specialized doctors as part of the initiative “Come and See. Stay to Care.”.

The initiative, promoted by the Alto Alentejo Local Health Unit (ULSAALE) and the Alto Alentejo Intermunicipal Community (CIMAA), in collaboration with the Municipalities of Alter do Chão and Avis, aims to bring these professionals closer to the region and present them with existing working and living conditions.
The visit program includes showcasing Avis's territory, services, heritage, gastronomy, and cultural and leisure activities. The goal is to encourage doctors to choose the municipality to settle and develop their professional activity, thereby helping to alleviate the shortage of doctors and improve healthcare services for the local population.
This initiative had a first phase held between September 25 and 27 in Gavião and Ponte de Sôr. The second phase began on October 09 in the Municipality of Alter do Chão and continues in Avis on the 10th and 11th, with the participation of 18 newly graduated doctors.
