The Municipality of Avis marks the St. Martin's Day tradition from November 08 to 15 with the "S. Martinho e a Tiborna" initiative, which will tour all localities.

The initiative, jointly organized by the Municipality and the Parishes and Unions of Parishes, with the support of local associations and collectives, aims to keep alive the tradition of magustos (chestnut roasts) and the preparation of the typical tiborna.
The magustos will offer moments to taste roasted chestnuts and traditional tibornas, prepared with freshly baked hot bread, drizzled with olive oil from the Cooperativa Agrícola de Ervedal e Figueira e Barros, and sweetened with yellow sugar. Musical entertainment will accompany these events.
More than just tasting, the gatherings will primarily be occasions for fellowship among people of various generations, reinforcing this local tradition.
