The Directorate-General for Maritime Policy promoted the SEAMInd Collaborative Network, gathering 47 representatives from 25 entities to improve the sharing and use of maritime data, vital for more effective public policies.

The SEAMInd Collaborative Network, promoted by the Directorate-General for Maritime Policy (DGPM), held its latest meeting with the aim of strengthening the sharing and use of data about the Sea, targeting more informed and effective public policies. The event was attended by 47 representatives from 25 entities.
The DGPM considers this a strategic process, believing that updated, comparable, and accessible data are fundamental for more assertive decision-making. During the meeting, concrete examples of the work developed by the network's member entities were shared, demonstrating the added value of collaboration through the monitoring and evaluation platform of the National Strategy for the Sea 2021-2030.
The DGPM intends for the platform to serve as a decision-support tool, integrating and enabling information correlation, valuing the work of the producing entities, and facilitating public access to maritime data. The goal is to transform scattered information into knowledge, rigorously tracking the evolution of the Blue Economy and maritime public policies.
The meeting was also attended by the Regional Director for Environment and Sea of the Autonomous Region of Madeira, Manuel Ara Oliveira, and the Regional Director for Maritime Policies of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, Rui Oliveira Martins. Their participation reinforced the central idea that the development of public policies for the Sea is strengthened by the joint participation of entities from the Mainland and the Autonomous Regions in defining priorities for the national maritime space.
The DGPM, on behalf of the SEAMInd Collaborative Network, thanked the Vasco da Gama Aquarium for hosting the meeting.
