The Autonomous Region of Madeira, through its Regional Directorate of Health, is promoting a new seasonal vaccination campaign against COVID-19. The initiative aims to reinforce the importance of vaccination as a preventive measure and encourage public adherence to public health recommendations.
Vaccination is particularly recommended for specific groups, including individuals aged 70 or over, those with moderate or severe immunosuppression, and those with risk conditions, frailty, or multimorbidity. Pregnant women, residents in institutions, and healthcare and vulnerable-context professionals are also among the priority groups.
The vaccine is available free of charge at the region's Health Centers. Operating hours and appointment procedures are disseminated locally by each health unit. For further information and clarification, eligible citizens should contact their respective Health Center.
The awareness campaign is being promoted through digital media, health units, and partner entities. The Regional Directorate of Health emphasizes that vaccination remains one of the most effective measures to reduce the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death associated with respiratory infections, contributing to individual and collective protection, especially for the most vulnerable.
