The Regional Health Directorate is promoting the flu vaccination campaign, which extends until March 31, 2027. The primary objective is to enhance the protection of individuals at higher risk of developing complications from respiratory infections.
Vaccination is recommended for various groups, including children aged 6 months to 4 years, individuals aged 60 or over, those with risk pathologies, people in vulnerable contexts, and health professionals. A high-dose vaccine is specifically indicated for individuals aged 75 or over and for residents in residential and care facilities.
The vaccine is provided free of charge at the Health Centers of the Autonomous Region of Madeira. Operating hours and appointment procedures are communicated locally by each health unit. Eligible citizens should contact their respective Health Center for more information.
Under the slogan “We get vaccinated. Madeira, a healthy, safe, sustainable, and innovative Region,” the awareness campaign utilizes digital media, health units, and partner entities to encourage public uptake. Vaccination is presented as one of the most effective measures to reduce the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death, contributing to collective protection and safer communities.
