The 1st edition of the Health Fair has kicked off today in Câmara de Lobos, an initiative bringing together various entities and partners to promote health, well-being, and the adoption of healthy lifestyles. Over three days, the Praça da Autonomia and the Museu de Imprensa will host a diverse program of practical activities, awareness campaigns, and social gatherings.
The opening session was attended by Márcia Gomes, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of SESARAM, EPERAM, who highlighted the continuous work to enhance accessibility and quality of healthcare. "These initiatives demonstrate our determination to build a healthcare system that is closer, more inclusive, and better able to respond to the concrete needs of Madeira's families," she stated.
Márcia Gomes emphasized the work carried out by health teams in the municipality, where over 186,000 healthcare acts were performed in 2025, and around 95,000 in the first half of 2026. The expansion of the local health center's Urgent Care Service to 24 hours was also praised.
The Health Fair, running until October 10th, includes outdoor training sessions, first aid demonstrations, healthy eating workshops, and sessions on mental well-being and risk behaviors. The 'Health Promotion Stands' at Praça da Autonomia will offer specialized advice on screenings, mental and oral health, and nutrition.
Organized by SESARAM, EPERAM, the event is supported by various partner entities, including the Câmara Municipal de Câmara de Lobos and the Regional Directorate for Citizenship and Social Affairs.
