SIMAS de Oeiras e Amadora, the entities responsible for the project, have announced that the works are taking place along Avenida Infante Dom Henrique, in the South-North direction. The intervention zone extends from the Tercena Market, in the municipality of Oeiras, to Massamá, in the municipality of Sintra.
The primary objective of this intervention is to prevent and reduce the risk of flooding in the drainage basin of the Ribeira de Massamá. The project aims to enhance the infrastructure's response capacity to intense rainfall events.
During the initial phase of the works, alternative routes have been established to mitigate the impacts. Drivers can use Rua Comendador Álvaro Vilela and Rua Mouzinho de Albuquerque. Traffic will also be managed as one-way on Rua de Goa (North-South direction) and Rua de Damão (South-North direction).
Additionally, Avenida de Santo António de Tercena and Rua São Francisco Xavier remain available as alternative routes.
Temporary signage will be properly displayed on-site. Drivers are advised to pay close attention to the temporary signage and, whenever possible, to plan their journeys in advance to avoid disruptions.
The projected period for these traffic restrictions is from September 28, 2026, to January 28, 2027.
