SPMS was present at the Accelerator Forum Lisbon 2026, promoted by Capgemini Portugal, held at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon on October 7th. Isabel Baptista, a member of SPMS's Board of Directors, spoke on the panel “Data & AI Trust”.
In a context where organizations seek to move from experimentation to practical application of artificial intelligence (AI) in real-world settings, the debate focused on the factors that enable scaling these technologies safely, namely data quality, trust, information governance, privacy, and the role of cloud infrastructures.
Isabel Baptista emphasized that the adoption of AI in Health requires heightened trust and control requirements, as highly sensitive citizen information is at stake. She highlighted the importance of robust data governance models, based on principles such as information quality, access control by necessity and purpose, operation traceability, permanent auditing, and human supervision.
The executive also advocated for digital literacy for the responsible use of AI, promoting critical understanding of its potential, limitations, and risks. She further noted that innovation should incorporate privacy, security, and data sovereignty mechanisms from its conception.
The panel also addressed the evolution towards increasingly autonomous AI systems and agents. The SPMS representative stressed that increased autonomy must be accompanied by strengthened supervision, control, and accountability mechanisms, ensuring that human intervention remains present in critical processes.
Also participating in the panel were Afonso Fuzeta Eça, Executive Administrator of Banco BPI, and Hélder Dias Ribeiro, Chief Digital & Tech Officer and member of the Leadership Committee of MC/Sonae.
SPMS's participation in the Accelerator Forum Lisbon 2026 reinforces the organization's commitment to responsible digital transformation, promoting the use of Artificial Intelligence based on trust, security, and the protection of citizen data, which are fundamental elements for innovation in the National Health Service.
