The University of Lisbon will approve new Statutes by December 4th, in compliance with Law no. 32/2026, which establishes the new Legal Regime for Higher Education Institutions.

The publication of Law no. 32/2026, of July 20th, which defines the new Legal Regime of Higher Education Institutions (RJIES), requires universities to approve their statutes within one year. Accordingly, the University of Lisbon has established a Statutory Assembly for this purpose.
The Statutory Assembly will be composed of the Rector, representatives of faculty and researchers, students, and technical, specialist, and management staff, as well as co-opted external personalities. The electoral process for the formation of this assembly is scheduled for November 24th and 25th, 2026, with completion expected by December 4th.
Further information regarding the electoral process, including the detailed calendar and necessary documentation, is available on the University of Lisbon website.
