Tiago Capela Lourenço, an environmental engineer and leader of the Climate Risk Management (ClimRisk) group at CE3C, has been presented with the Research Funds Merit Award. The award acknowledges his significant contribution to scientific research, particularly for securing over one million euros in funding in 2025.
Capela Lourenço expressed his gratitude on behalf of the entire ClimRisk-CE3C team and FCiências.ID. He highlighted how, despite being a small research group, their teamwork has enabled them to attract competitive funding, advancing scientific knowledge and its practical application in the complex and transdisciplinary field of climate risk management.
“"Despite being a small research group, we have managed, thanks to teamwork, to attract competitive funding that allows us to advance scientific knowledge and its practical application in a complex and markedly transdisciplinary area such as climate risk management."
The researcher also emphasized that the distinction recognizes the work developed by ClimRisk, which, beyond scientific research and teaching, also focuses on training researchers better prepared for the challenges of securing scientific funding and developing their own research careers.
