On October 27th, SPMS held a meeting in Lisbon with partners of the Smart Healthy Regions project to analyze the work developed and define future priorities.

The working meeting is part of the strategic reflection that SPMS is promoting, with the support of consultancy firm KPMG, on the vision for the Smart Healthy Regions project and its opportunities for evolution at regional and national levels, starting from the experience already developed in the Oeste region.
Funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), under the Digital Health Transition component, the project began in 2025 with the aim of collaboratively building a territorial health intelligence platform for the Oeste region.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Oeste Local Health Unit, the Oeste Intermunicipal Community, NOVA Information Management School, and the National School of Public Health of the NOVA University of Lisbon. NOVA IMS presented the project and the platform, followed by a joint reflection on results, learnings, challenges, and prospects for continuity.
One of the axes of analysis was the integration, governance, and valorization of data as essential elements for evidence-based health policies and more informed decision-making at local, regional, and national levels. The reflection on the future of Smart Healthy Regions intersects with the evolution of the national health data ecosystem and the articulation with the European Health Data Space, reinforcing the importance of interoperability and the secure and responsible use of data.
The session marked another step in building a shared vision for the project's future, valuing the experience developed in the Oeste region and the work carried out by the various partners. It was also important for identifying conditions to enhance the achieved results and strengthen the initiative's alignment with national priorities in data, innovation, and digital transformation in health.
