The Pharmaceutical Order (OF) held a meeting on October 12 with the Portuguese Association of Importers and Exporters of Medicines (APIEM). The meeting focused on the main challenges faced by the medicine import and export market in Portugal.
Present at the meeting were Dario Bastos Martins, Vice-President of the OF, and Diana Costa, Deputy Secretary-General. APIEM was represented by António Mendonça Alves, President of the Board, Miguel Fernandes Almeida, Vice-President of the Board, and Alexandra Pacheco, Secretary-General.
During the meeting, difficulties experienced by independent distributors were addressed, particularly the regulatory procedures associated with the import and export of medicines, as well as export restrictions.
The impact of these restrictions on the sector's activity and the importance of medicine imports for supplying the national market were also discussed. The meeting also allowed for a better understanding of APIEM's activities and an exchange of perspectives on market operations and the current challenges for sector operators.
