Portugal is co-signing a joint letter with 16 other member states, calling for a Europe that is “stronger, more cohesive, more prosperous, and more united”. The position was advocated by Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, who views these areas as an absolute priority for the country and future generations.
“The debate on the next EU budget is not an accounting exercise. It is the mirror of our ambition for Europe and the translation of our political choices,” stated Luís Montenegro. For Portugal, defending the Cohesion Policy and the Common Agricultural Policy, alongside the valorization of the outermost regions, is a top priority.
