The meeting was attended by various security forces and national entities from the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Territorial Cohesion. Present were the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA), the Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DGADR), the National Institute for Agrarian and Veterinary Research (INIAV), and the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Regional Coordination and Development Commission (CCDR-LVT). Police representatives from EUROPOL, Kosovo, Armenia, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Albania, the Czech Republic, and Belgium also participated, including four prosecutors (two from Sweden and two from Portugal).
The organization of this workshop was supported by the DGADR and collaborated with APA, CCDR-LVT, and INIAV, within the framework of the Technical Monitoring Committee of the Lamas Directive (CTADL). INIAV, represented by researchers Cristina Sempiterno, Filipe Pedra, and Pedro Jordão, presented several communications, as did representatives from DGADR, APA, CCDR-LVT, and SEPNA/GNR.
Considering crimes against the environment as one of the European Union's top priorities, the presence of Prosecutors from Sweden and Portugal was noted with satisfaction. This Operational Action allows the GNR, through SEPNA, to play a significant role in combating environmental crime, reinforcing its position as a European benchmark in the fight against pollution that affects soils and human health.
