Applications for the Gulbenkian Foundation's Merit Scholarships are open until October 30. These scholarships are intended for students applying for their first year of higher education. The annual scholarship amount is €2,000, with the possibility of renewal until the completion of a master's degree, provided the conditions stipulated in the regulations are met.
Additionally, the scholarship includes a one-time support of €2,000 for undertaking a period of international mobility, through the Erasmus+ Programme or an equivalent program.
To be eligible, candidates must present a higher education application score of 170 points or higher, obtained in the national higher education access competition for the 2025/2026 academic year. It is also necessary to provide proof of application for the social action scholarship from the Directorate-General for Higher Education (DGES). This condition is mandatory for the Merit Scholarship application, regardless of the household income, as it allows for income verification.
Scholarships will be awarded to selected candidates whose per capita annual income, verified by the Social Action Services of the respective higher education institution, does not exceed €14,000.
