The European Centre for Democratic Resilience has launched the first phase of its Stakeholder Platform, with the European Digital Media Observatory (EDMO) and the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN) being the first entities to initiate collaboration. This initiative brings together Member States and EU institutions to develop practical solutions for strengthening democratic resilience.
The Platform, which in a second phase will be open to new participants, will connect independent entities from across the EU, including civil society organizations, media outlets, fact-checkers, researchers, and media literacy professionals. The aim is to support the work of the European Centre for Democratic Resilience, ensuring a comprehensive approach that involves all of society.
The European Centre for Democratic Resilience, which began its activity in February 2026, aims to promote a coordinated approach to increase awareness and strengthen the response capacity to current threats facing democracies. Ongoing projects include an EU action plan against foreign information manipulation, disinformation, and interference (FIMI), common concepts and methodologies for FIMI detection, a handbook on elections, and a train-the-trainer program for public officials.
In a second phase, more stakeholders will join the platform following the publication, this autumn, of a call for participation from new entities. The establishment of a broader Stakeholder Platform is planned for spring 2027.
