The National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), GNR, and PSP carried out two operations in Greater Lisbon as part of the "Viaje sem Pressa" campaign, detecting 90 speeding infractions and making eight arrests.

The National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), the National Republican Guard (GNR), and the Public Security Police (PSP) conducted, in the early hours of October 13, two awareness and enforcement actions in the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon, as part of the “Viaje sem Pressa” campaign, running from October 13 to 19. The operations, focused on preventing risks associated with speed, took place near the Carcavelos tolls (A5) and at the northern access to the 25 de Abril Bridge.
In the two actions, 190 drivers were sensitized and 241 vehicles were inspected. A total of 36 speeding infractions and 54 other infractions were detected, resulting in eight arrests. On the A5 in Carcavelos, 35 speeding infractions and 16 others were recorded, with two arrests. At the access to the 25 de Abril Bridge, one speeding infraction and 38 others were detected, with six arrests.
Secretary of State for Civil Protection, Rui Rocha, ANSR President Pedro Clemente, Major General Joselino Gouveia Seabra Ferreira (GNR), and Superintendent Manuel Gonçalves (PSP) were present at the operations. Rui Rocha emphasized that "driving in a hurry can have irreversible consequences. Respecting limits and adapting speed to road conditions is the responsibility of each driver."
The campaign, part of the 2026 National Enforcement Plan (PNF), aims to raise awareness about the importance of adapting speed to road conditions, especially in case of rain, heavy traffic, or the presence of pedestrians. According to ANSR data, accidents associated with excessive speed caused 154 deaths and 563 serious injuries between 2023 and 2025.
