The competition for the Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Scholarships is open until October 31, 2026. The Fulbright FLTA Program aims to strengthen the teaching of foreign languages in American higher education institutions. Simultaneously, it allows young teachers to develop their teaching skills, increase their English language proficiency, and expand their knowledge of North American culture and customs.
The program is intended for young teachers of English or Portuguese as a Foreign Language, or graduates in related fields, who wish to become teaching assistants for the Portuguese language and culture at a higher education institution in the USA during the upcoming academic year 2027/2028.
This competition will award up to 5 scholarships for the next academic year, offering the opportunity for a teaching experience, cultural exchange, and professional development in the United States of America.
Interested individuals should consult the program's official website for more information on eligibility requirements and conditions, as well as for submitting their application. Inquiries can be sent via email to program@fulbright.pt.
