ANSR, in partnership with APSI, held awareness sessions for 480 students in Cascais, between October 8th and 9th, focusing on the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol and substances.

The National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), in collaboration with the Association for the Promotion of Child Safety (APSI), organized two awareness sessions on October 8th and 9th, 2026, at schools in the municipality of Cascais. These initiatives were part of the European Mobility Week, promoted by Cascais Próxima, and involved a total of 480 students.
On October 8th, the event took place at the Frei Gonçalo de Azevedo Secondary School in Tires, with 280 students from 13 classes participating. On October 9th, the initiative was held at the Cidadela Basic and Secondary School, where 200 students from nine classes took part.
During the sessions, students had the opportunity to try out simulator glasses demonstrating the effects of alcohol and psychotropic substance consumption. This practical experience allowed them to understand the limitations and risks associated with driving under the influence of these substances, reinforcing their perception of the dangers to road safety.
Conducting these awareness actions in a school setting is considered particularly important for fostering a road safety culture, especially among young people who are approaching driving age. Raising awareness about the risks associated with alcohol and psychotropic substance consumption is crucial for encouraging responsible behavior and ensuring safer mobility.
