The initiative, held on October 17th, included the Carvalha Fort, the Cego Fort, and the Military Road, in the locality of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda. The route aimed to showcase the historical and military heritage associated with the defense of Lisbon during the French Invasions.
The visit also served to present two new regional pastry products: "Arruda 1810" and "Os Caminhos de Santiago". Developed by Daniela Ferrão and Sónia Tiago, mother and daughter, these products aim to highlight the region's history, identity, and local flavors.
Among the confectioners' previous creations are the "Morgadinhos de Arinto", winners of the Adoçar com Arinto contest in 2021, an award that reinforced their commitment to developing products inspired by regional gastronomic heritage.
This initiative underscores the importance of knowing, valuing, and promoting historical, military, and gastronomic heritage, which are essential for preserving collective memory and affirming territorial identity.
