The Local Health Unit of Amadora/Sintra promoted the VII Meeting of the Interinstitutional Commission Amadora and Sintra Together for Breastfeeding (CIASJAM), focusing on the relationship between breastfeeding and sustainability.

On October 9th, the Local Health Unit of Amadora/Sintra organized the VII Meeting of the Interinstitutional Commission Amadora and Sintra Together for Breastfeeding (CIASJAM), under the theme “Breastfeeding and sustainability: Small actions, big changes”. The event was attended by the Board of Directors of ULS Amadora/Sintra, including the Nursing Director, Graça Nascimento, and Carla Chambel, godmother of the CIASJAM project.
Throughout the day, participants reflected on the crucial role of breastfeeding in promoting health, nutrition, and global sustainability. Benefits for infant feeding, healthy development, reduced morbidity, and environmental impact were discussed.
The approach to sustainability highlighted the value of small daily actions, such as supporting families and training health professionals, aiming for environmentally responsible practices.
CIASJAM, which unites institutions and professionals to support mothers, fathers, and families through coordinated action between hospitals, primary care, and the community, reinforced the importance of this collaboration and the role of nursing teams in promoting equitable and sustainable care.
ULS Amadora/Sintra thanked everyone who contributed to the meeting's success and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting breastfeeding as a factor for health, equity, and sustainability.
