With implementation scheduled for 2027, the initiative aims to ensure that, in the event of incidents compromising usual services, citizens have support locations to access water, charge mobile devices, obtain civil protection information, and use communication and emergency tools.
In each of the six parishes, the FAROL Network will feature a central outdoor space equipped with an automated external defibrillator (AED) cabin, a Starlink antenna for communications, an interactive panel powered by solar and wind energy, a charging station for mobile devices, a drinking fountain, and a hydrant.
The project aligns with the meeting points of the Municipal Civil Protection Emergency Plan, seeking to bring civil protection resources closer to the population and strengthen individual and collective preparedness for emergencies. The initiative addresses the increased challenges of disaster prevention and response in Amadora, given its high population density and concentration of infrastructure.
This initiative continues the work developed by the Municipality in reducing catastrophe risk, including the Warning and Alert System, information and awareness programs, the Senior Civil Protection Academy, and the execution of operational exercises.
