The distinction was presented on October 16th, in Lisbon, during the international conference commemorating the 50th anniversary of INPI. This recognition reinforces the work the university has been doing in valuing knowledge and protecting research results.
Between 2022 and 2025, IPLEIRIA submitted 23 applications for registration of Designs or Models, of which 22 were granted. In the same period, 38 patent applications were also submitted, with 21 granted.
A significant portion of the registered Designs or Models originate from projects developed at the School of Arts and Design of Caldas da Rainha (ESAD.CR) and at LiDA – Research Laboratory in Design and Arts, reflecting training oriented towards excellence and value creation.
The GAPI – Intellectual Property Support Office of ULO plays a strategic role in promoting a culture of industrial property protection and providing support to faculty, researchers, and students.
The university aims to create conditions for knowledge to travel the entire path from research to its use by society and the economy, through licensing, collaborative projects, and the creation of new companies.
