The ceremony marked the recognition of the collective effort that allowed the educational establishment to be recovered, following the damage caused by Storm Kristin in January of this year. The event brought together the educational community, families, local officials, and partner entities who contributed to giving the children back a renovated school with better learning conditions.
The president of the Municipal Chamber of Leiria, Gonçalo Lopes, highlighted the mobilization capacity of the Carvide community, stating that "the wind left marks on the building. The community responded by leaving a stronger mark: that of solidarity." He emphasized the decisive role of parents, teachers, operational assistants, and guardians in the space's recovery.
The joint effort, driven by the Parents' Commission and the educational community, was supported by the Municipality of Leiria, the Union of Freguesias of Monte Real and Carvide, and various partner entities, including SIC Esperança, Nespresso, La Redoute, the Agrupamento de Escolas Rainha Santa Isabel, Madeiras Afonso, and Vera Brás Simões – Arquitetos.
Gonçalo Lopes reinforced the importance of investing in education and creating conditions for children's full development, concluding that "investing in education is investing in the future." The ceremony thanked all those involved, noting that "each person did their part, but together, they made a difference."
