The Museum of the Batalha Municipal Community (MCCB) has secured financial support of 24,649.20 euros from the ProMuseus 2025 program, managed by the Portuguese Network of Museums (RPM), for the project “About Us and Living in Biodiversity: inclusion and revitalization of heritage in the present-day areas of the MCCB”.

The contract signing ceremony for ProMuseus 2025 took place yesterday, November 4th, at the National Palace of Ajuda in Lisbon. The event was attended by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Margarida Balseiro Lopes, and representing the Municipality of Batalha were its president, André Sousa, and the MCCB managers.
The project aims to renovate and update the exhibition areas dedicated to the present-day of the territory, integrating new informative content and accessible, inclusive solutions. According to Ana Moderno, MCCB curator, content will include Portuguese Sign Language, audio description, new videos for intangible and material heritage dissemination, multimedia equipment, and new tactile resources, such as relief reproductions of paintings.
André Sousa, president of the Municipality of Batalha, highlighted that the financial support “represents an important reinforcement of the Museum's offering and the Batalha territory, allowing us to continue on the path of accessibility and inclusion”. ProMuseus, established in 2006, is a tool for supporting museological activity in Portugal, promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport.
The 2025 competition received 90 applications from 77 museums, with 40 projects selected for a total of 1,008,760.29 euros. The MCCB has been part of the Portuguese Network of Museums since 2019 and, in 2023, received support from Promuseus for the exhibition “A Pedra e a Batalha: da Matéria à Vida” (Stone and Battle: from Matter to Life).
