The Municipal Council of Ansião unanimously approved financial support of €64,575 for the Humanitarian Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Ansião (AHBVA) to acquire a vehicle with an aerial platform.

The decision, made during the Ordinary Meeting of the Ansião Municipal Council held in the Noble Hall of the Paços do Concelho on October 8th, aims to strengthen emergency response capabilities. The President of the Ansião Municipal Council, Jorge Cancelinha, highlighted that the need for the vehicle was identified by the Municipal Civil Protection in coordination with the AHBVA, particularly following the passage of Storm Kristin.
“The acquisition of this vehicle, equipped with an aerial platform, will reinforce emergency response resources, notably allowing access to high-rise buildings and other infrastructure where this type of equipment is essential,” explained Jorge Cancelinha.
The mayor added that the shared use of the vehicle between the Municipality and the Volunteer Firefighters of Ansião will enhance the intervention capacity of the Municipal Civil Protection, consolidating the partnership between the two entities and improving the response to the population's needs in protection and rescue.
The approved support is based on the council's responsibilities in Civil Protection and the AHBVA's role in protection and rescue missions. The objective is to bolster the AHBVA's operational resources and its intervention capacity in rescue operations.
