The municipality of Ansião was the privileged venue for the World Team Championship Backyard Ultra 2026, held on October 17th and 18th, featuring 14 Portuguese athletes and breaking national records.

The event, organized by the 100 Gás Trail Team association in partnership with the Municipality of Ansião, used the Ansião Business Center as its main location. The race started at 1:00 PM on Saturday, the 17th, simultaneously with similar events held in 67 countries, reinforcing the council's connection to the sport after previous editions.
For over two days, athletes faced a challenging physical and mental endurance course. Paulo Moreira stood out by becoming the national champion, completing 49 laps (328.594 Km) and setting a new absolute national record. Adriano Furtado secured second place with 48 laps.
Ana Pereira also surpassed her own national female record by completing 38 laps. Collectively, the Portuguese team achieved 462 laps, covering approximately 3,098 kilometers, exceeding the 457 laps recorded in 2024.
The next edition of the event is scheduled for March 20, 2027, further establishing Ansião as a reference location for nature sports and international competitions.
