The visual performance 'Memória do Barro', exploring the relationship between women and the art of pottery, inaugurates the 32nd edition of CineEco – Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival, in Seia.

The Câmara Municipal de Seia presents the opening performance of the 32nd edition of CineEco – Serra da Estrela International Environmental Film Festival. The piece, titled 'Memória do Barro', is rated M/6 and has a duration of 60 minutes.
With a poetic and metaphorical language, the performance focuses on clay as more than just raw material, inhabited by three feminine forces: the Woman in Black, the Potter, and the child who becomes the Apprentice. Through silent dialogue, the relationship between the Potter and the Apprentice transcends mere craft learning, using art as a form of expression, complicity, and resistance.
The work invites reflection on the presence of women in the world of pottery, where daily routine, the harshness of labor, and the silence of solitude transform into a memory of affection and dignity, shaped by the uncertainties of the times.
Co-creation and interpretation are by Sandra Santos and Xana Monteiro, with staging by Pompeu José, Sandra Santos, and Xana Monteiro. Music is by Ricardo Augusto, lyrics for 'Canção do Barro' by João Maria André, and scenography by Pompeu José. The black clay pieces are by Carlos Lima and Xana Monteiro, costumes by Adriana Ventura, technical direction by Luís Viegas, and lighting design and technical operation by Paulo Neto. Technical support is by Ricardo Leão, and production by Marta Costa.
Admission is free, subject to room capacity.
