Planting of native trees at Quinta da Nogueira, Seia, to create an open-air auditorium.

A new forest of 32 native trees has been planted at Quinta da Nogueira in Seia, marking the start of a project to establish an open-air natural auditorium for future CineEco festival sessions.

The CineEco Forest has begun to take shape at Quinta da Nogueira in Seia, with the aim of revitalizing this urban space through the planting of native species. The initiative, which is expected to host a natural auditorium within a few years, is linked to the International Environmental Film Festival of Serra da Estrela.
In the inaugural event, 32 trees were planted, one for each edition of the festival, including species such as hawthorn, strawberry trees, birches, and strawberry trees. The event was attended by filmmakers, jury members, technicians from the Serra da Estrela Interpretation Centre (CISE), and the Municipality of Seia, along with councilwoman Teresa Pereira.
The vision is to create a cinema space integrated into the landscape, without conventional structures, at Quinta da Nogueira, an area the municipality intends to develop as a leisure space for residents. This environmental project also seeks to mitigate the impact of festival attendees.
The 32nd edition of CineEco runs until October 17th, featuring 86 films in competition. The sections include documentaries addressing topics such as economic models, environmental activism, climate inequalities, and species conservation.
In addition to film screenings, the program includes free activities such as conferences, concerts, workshops, and exhibitions. Further details are available at www.cineeco.pt.
