The Municipality of Gouveia received, on October 8th, the Evaluation Commission for the certification candidacy of the Gouveia Nautical Station, named Alto Mondego Nautical Station. The working visit focused on presenting and evaluating the territory's resources, infrastructure, and potential for nautical and leisure activities.
The visit included the Mayor and Vice-Mayor of Gouveia, members of the Gouveia Nautical Station Working Commission, the Evaluation Commission, and partners such as João Alves (Trilhos e Lagos, Lda.), the Folgosinho Hunting and Fishing Club, CERVAS, presidents of the Parish Councils of Folgosinho, Vila Franca da Serra, and Ribamondego, directors from the Gouveia School Group and the Gouveia Institute – Professional School, the representative of the company “Montanhas de Aventura”, and athlete Eduardo Mourato.
The program included meetings and visits to sites such as Vale do Rossim, Casais de Folgosinho – Senhora de Assedace, Ponte Nova, Ribamondego, and the Gouveia Municipal Pools. The aim was to showcase the municipality's natural, tourist, and sports resources, as well as the work developed in coordination with local entities and partners.
The initiative concluded with a final assessment, emphasizing the importance of cooperation between the Municipality, parishes, associations, educational institutions, and tourism stakeholders in valuing water and natural resources and promoting the territory.
The candidacy for the certification of the Gouveia Nautical Station represents an opportunity to enhance the municipality's tourism appeal and boost the local economy by leveraging its resources and creating new opportunities related to nautical and nature tourism.
