The ceremony was attended by the minister, who highlighted the importance of this new equipment for diagnostic capacity and for improving health resources, promoting greater proximity and equity for people living in the interior of the country. The investment, supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), covered MRI, CT, and conventional radiology equipment.
The president of the Board of Directors of ULS da Guarda, Rita Figueiredo, emphasized that this equipment represents new hope in treating various diseases. She also mentioned that, between 2025 and 2026, ULS da Guarda carried out 32 projects under the PRR, with a total value exceeding 26 million euros. These projects included the acquisition of mobile health units, electric vehicles for home care, and the creation of Dental Medicine offices, in addition to the renovation of health centers and buildings.
Rita Figueiredo pointed out that the realization of these projects was the result of local initiative, political decision, funding, and confidence from the overseeing body. During the visit, the Minister of Health also greeted the team of the new emergency vehicle of ULS da Guarda, one of the first health units in the country to receive a new medical resuscitation and emergency vehicle (VMER) from INEM.
Ana Paula Martins also highlighted the importance of the new mobile health units, considering them an example of organizational innovation to be encouraged within the National Health Service (SNS), especially in areas with low population density and large geographical spread.
